Terms of Service

Last updated: April 25, 2026

1. What Eddy is

Eddy is a trip suitability engine that provides GO / CAUTION / NO-GO verdicts for kayak fishing trips based on real-time weather and environmental data. It is a decision-support tool, not a safety guarantee.

2. Not a substitute for judgment

Eddy provides recommendations based on available data. You are solely responsible for your safety on the water. Conditions can change rapidly. Always:

  • Check conditions yourself before launching.
  • Wear a PFD at all times on the water.
  • File a float plan with someone onshore.
  • Turn back if conditions deteriorate, regardless of what any app says.

3. Data accuracy

Eddy relies on third-party data sources (Open-Meteo, NOAA, WSDOT, AirNow). While we strive for accuracy, we cannot guarantee the completeness, timeliness, or correctness of external data. Sensor outages, API delays, and forecast model limitations can affect verdict quality.

4. Service availability

Eddy is provided "as is" during beta. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the service at any time without notice. We do not guarantee uptime or availability.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use Eddy for commercial purposes without permission.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or overload the service.
  • Misrepresent Eddy verdicts as professional safety assessments.

6. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Eddy and its creators shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to injury, property damage, or loss of life related to kayak fishing activities.

7. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms at any time. Continued use of Eddy after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
