What Eddy collects

When you use Eddy, we collect only what's needed to produce trip verdicts and improve the service:

  • Account info: Display name, experience level, and Telegram chat ID (if using the bot).
  • Kayak specs: Brand, model, hull type, dimensions, and weight capacity you provide.
  • Trip check requests: Spot, dates, species, method, and the resulting verdict.
  • Usage metadata: Model used (Sonnet/Haiku), response time, and token counts for monitoring.

What Eddy does NOT collect

  • Your real-time GPS location. You pick spots from a list — we never track where you are.
  • Your email address or phone number (unless you provide one for account features in the future).
  • Payment information. Eddy is free during beta.
  • Third-party tracking cookies or advertising identifiers.

How data is used

  • To produce trip suitability verdicts tailored to your kayak and experience.
  • To improve verdict quality and engine performance over time.
  • To monitor system health (error rates, response times, API costs).

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

Third-party services

Eddy uses the following external services to produce verdicts:

  • Anthropic (Claude API): Your trip context (spot, weather data, kayak specs) is sent to Claude to generate verdicts. Anthropic's privacy policy applies.
  • Supabase: Database hosting. Data is stored in a US-based PostgreSQL instance.
  • Open-Meteo, NOAA, WSDOT, AirNow: Weather and environmental data is fetched using spot coordinates. No personal data is sent to these services.

Data retention

Trip check history is retained indefinitely so you can review past verdicts. You can request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us.
